KJ's Westie Champs

About the kennel

A lifelong love of Westies — raised with care, shown with pride, placed into the right homes.

Welcome to KJ’s Westie Champs

At KJ’s Westie Champs, we are dedicated to providing exceptional West Highland White Terriers that bring joy, companionship, and a piece of living history into your home. Our commitment to responsible breeding and a deep love for the breed have earned trust from families looking for more than a pet — they’re looking for a partner.

Kathy Jones has raised Westies since 1998 (28+ years). She was drawn to their spunkiness, hardiness, and intelligence — sturdy little dogs with big personalities, not frail fashion pieces. That same affection still guides every litter.

AKC registration & pedigree

We take pride in registering our Westie puppies with the American Kennel Club. AKC registration documents authenticity and quality — a well-traced pedigree with a lineage of distinguished ancestors.

When you choose a Westie from KJ’s Westie Champs, you’re welcoming a dog with a documented lineage that helps preserve the breed’s history and characteristics.

Westie at home — the everyday side of KJ's Westie Champs

What we breed for

Conformation, temperament, health, and genetics — a Westie that meets the breed’s standards and thrives as a family companion.

  • Barn hunt

Texas Rat Masters titles — terriers who love to hunt, decide, and work.

  • Nosework

South Texas nosework competition — scent work that keeps a thinking Westie sharp.

  • Obedience & more

Obedience, rally, and tracking when the dog enjoys the job — never drills for drills’ sake.

Beyond the home, dogs from the program have competed in barn hunt, nosework, obedience, and related activities. Westies love to think. They also love to test you. We like to think we can be a little more stubborn than they are — though we’re not always sure that’s true.

In Kathy’s words

“I raise Westies because I enjoy their traits of spunkiness, hardiness and intelligence. They are very sure of themselves, durable, smart, and tough. I didn’t want a frail dog.”
Kathy Jones · On why Westies
“Mine like nosework and barn hunt because they like to think. They make decisions. Two of mine do obedience but they get bored when they do it too long.”
